And here’s what Reuben said. Reuben, the ultimate Monday morning quarterback. Reuben’s the kind of guy, if he watched the Cowboys play, after they called the play he would say, “Hey, I told you you should have run. You should have handed the ball to Emmitt Smith.” You know, he was that kind of guy. You know what Reuben said? “Brothers, this is why we’re here in prison. I told you 25 years ago we shouldn’t have done this.” And he was making all these excuses and whining and crying.
That doesn’t impress me at all. Reuben had the authority to stop, 25 years ago, what the brothers were doing, but he kind of sat back. Have you ever sat back and kind of got in your two cents worth, but you know, “I don’t want to get involved. I don’t want to stand up.” Even though that person’s being taken advantage of. Even though that person is being slandered. Even though that person is being drug through the mud. If you don’t get involved and you know the truth, you are hurting that person, you are slandering that person as much as the person throwing them in the pit.
So, Reuben’s not some brave guy, some super spiritual giant. Galatians 6:7~write that in the margin here–Galatians 6:7 says, “Whatever you sow, whatever you plant, whatever seeds you drop in the ground, that’s what’s going to grow up.” And these brothers, what kind of seeds did they plant? Jealousy, lust, chicanery, rebellion, hatred. And the seeds were there, and they thought, “Hey, I don’t see any seeds germinating; I don’t see any plants.” All of a sudden, they turned around and they got involved and they thought everything was dormant.
